And please... don't tell me it's because Hitler killed millions of them... We have killed more Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan than Hitler managed to kill in his short time of power. Hitler was responsible for the deaths of over 6 millions Jews and over 20 Million Russians. Can't give you figures f...

Well, kbot - you have finally tripped the bull**** meter and lost all credibility. In regard to Jimmy Carter - he was president from 1977-1980? What is that? Thirty years ago? During his tenure we had the OPEC Oil Embargo and resulting high rates of inflation. He correctly identified the problem - ...

Personally, I don't think it matters - think Jimmy Carter, for instance. Some issues are just beyond the control of government to deal with effectively.

We've got to put aside our petty differences, and come together on the IMPORTANT issues, such as taking care of each other, and actually CARING about each other, no matter who we worship and what we are. If we don't, we will have another civil war, which will give our REAL adversaries the advantage...

I totally agree. But we're IMPLODING from the inside-out... We've got to stop fighting with each other over things that are not relevant, and come together on everything that's good for our country. I agree. Too much divisiveness and pitting groups against each other. I blame cable news myself.......

Saw this band while living in the Midwest in the 70s, and heard the song today on my way home. Seems like some things in this country haven't changed much since 1972 when this song came out.........:( GOLDEN COUNTRY by REO Speedwagon Golden country your face is so red With all of your money your poo...

Redefining Cities

I don't know how many of you caught this bit of news out of Detroit. After decades of decline, people are starting to step-up, rip down the rotten edifices of a failed system and start over. I wish them well. it will be interresting to see how they fare, and if their model works well in other areas....

Something to do with all those empty McMansions??? I guess.......one of the practices that's angered me about this recession is, when people refer to the housing crisis, and the parts played by Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, and so on, one topic that is hardly discussed is the part that house flippin...

and right now, it's looks like many in the US are not only chomping at the bit but extremely excited to give up their rights -- and not just their rights, of course, but everyone else's. Any price is acceptable .......... I agree. People are generally apathetic concerning their rights, and are more...

It's not a question of respect so much as a theory of jurisprudence. I've talked about this before. Over on this side of the religious divide, people are considered moral agents capable of free will and so, more or less, responsible for their actions. It's very difficult to push this overarching, d...

Speech can be used as a weapon. Insulting other nations religious beliefs can be perceived as a weapon. Just because no traditional weapons are being used at this point in time, doesn't mean that this act of burning Qurans couldn't be perceived as a weapon to potentially incite a war. If one looks ...

Re: Re: Overwhelmed and Under Impressed...

Our parties have little to fear, each has a massive base that ensures the status quo will not be threatened by massive change. I agree with much of what you say Kaz, but more to the point, your last observation bears-out, for me at least, what is essentially is wrong with this country in its curren...
