Re: Seldom heard songs about cities and towns

I'll start it off. Do any of you other Pirates have any seldom heard songs about cities or towns? John Denver sung about Toledo, OH. Which in my opinion was graphically correct. Speaking of songs, does anyone have a copy of the song that the Canadian C&W artist made about Art Bell and Coast To ...

You know... I used to think that medications such as Prozac and Elavil were not that much of a problem. But the more and more I see the links between these drugs and violence, the more I get concerned. Is it that people buy into the advertising that one little pill will cure all evils, or is it that...

Things always go better when you have the Walrus of Love playing on the stereo. Sure beats having Wierd Al on doing "Beat It".

Seems they will get rid of Buick and Chrysler -- thats word on the news hints -- hmm ok.. never owned one anyway. I hope not. Buick has been one of their better manufactured products. However, Ford has their problems, especially with the cruise control switch in their truck/SUV packages. I look for...

I'm posting kind of late on this subject, but this is what I do. I have a computer that sits in the corner, and the sole purpose of this is to aircheck and record shows. It sports an AMD K6/500 and 256 RAM, which is pretty wimpy by today's standards, but it does the job. I use a software called &quo...

Fantastic, Bill!

After you get your license, look for a repeater that has I.R.L.P. on it and link up with my repeater here in Lima OH. It would be nice chatting with you and putting a voice to someone in the forum.

Re: Contacts in Central Texas

Where are you in Texas? I know some guys in ham radio down in Houston and Dallas. I can ask around and see where they have some clubs and groups. If you are just getting into the hobby I would suggest you look at some of the materials from W5YI. I think the web site is http://www.w5yi.org. W5YI has ...

BTW, the FT-857D can also be used for listening to AM radio. I find that it's more sensitive than the Sony ICF-2010, CC Radio, or others. Most of the time when I'm listening, or recording CTCAM for listening the next day, it produces fairly decent audio. The only negative I can think of is that like...

Re: A Few Thoughts

I agree, Art. There are some things in this universe that we have not mastered for the good of society. The intent may be noble, but I fear that toying with the unknown could bring someone to room temperature. Unlike our cats, Art, we only have 1 life. I’ve tempted fate twice, and I’m too chicken to...

In all the locations where they have tried BPL in my region it has failed miserably. Carrier current data transmissions of fast data is not a good idea. Ok for 110/300 baud meter data, but it's pure smoke and mirrors to equal cable modem or DSL speeds. Frosbite is correct that any transmission you m...
