May Have Gotten His Wish

November 1, 2002 / Celebrated Radio Talk Show Host Vanishes.  He may have gotten his wish.

KON, Nevada (AAN News Wire)  Last evening, under the guise of  problems with his studio phone lines, well known talk show host, Bart Cell, entered an object he constructed in the middle of an approximately  120 foot radius loop of antennae wire in his back yard.

"There was this big flash and a really strange whirring sound," said   neighbor Missy Noital, "and then it just disappeared."   The Kon Police Department has cordoned off the scene and Mr. Cell has been  officially declared a missing person.  Sources close to the   investigation have indicated that it was well known that Mr. Cell had an obsession with building and using a machine that could travel through  time.   "He just put up that dang loopy thing in 2 months ago."  said another neighbor,  Dun Cans, "Then there was all this pounding and  welding that went on all hours of the night while he built that  contraption."   Cans described it as a bicycle with a cockpit and a    satellite antenna mounted on the back.  Mr.Cell is the host of the long-running and highly rated radio program  "Cost 3 Cost AM", which he broadcasts from a home studio.  Last night  Mr. Cell did not host his annual classic Halloween broadcast.    No official reason as given for Mr. Cell's absence from the show by  PremRat Radio, the  program's national syndicator.

Calls to family members were not returned.  "I just want to know who is going to fill in that big hole in the  backyard," said neighbor Duke Domnie, "and how long is it going to take  for that stench to clear out of here."

Is There Life After Art?

Once again, the riders of the night were given an ominous message:  Art Bell to retire from Coast to Coast AM effective 12/31/02.  Designated Successor - George Noory.

This announcement came after a long season of Art Bell making infrequent appearances as host of the late night radio show, citing problems with severe back pain due to a flare up of an old injury sustained several years ago.

Art Bell fans had long sensed something was going very wrong with the Coast to Coast AM show.  Art often seemed unenthusiastic when he did make an occasional appearance to host the show.  George Noory, who was originally brought on as a Sunday fill-in host, was given more and more air time as Art failed to show up night after night.

Art Bell fans have mixed reactions, some cynical, others supportive - no one very surprised at this turn of events:

"Well, we can't say we are surprised, can we? Sorry to see him go, and I wish him the best. I also hope he pops up somewhere else one day, but I'm not betting the ranch on it.  It's a great loss, and there's no way to say it with enough emphasis."

"It comes with no shock to me. I had a strong feeling Art was going to hang it up. I'll miss him. As for Noory, he'll have his own following. I will not listen to him unless he has a great guest on."
